The old town of Dubrovnik is an unique spot in Europa. Red roofs everywhere, the mainstreet 'Placa', the high city walls, small old streets, several churches and more sights. In my opinion this is the most beautiful old town of Europa. So Dubrovnik, specially the old town, is a great start of your round trip or beach vacation Croatia for a copple of days.
