Borobudor Temple - 15 Aug 08
The Borobudor is a Buddhist monument from the 19th century. The pyramid shaped complex contains 2600 relief panels and 500 Buddha sculptures. 75 years after is was finished it was covered by a thick layer of ashes by different volcanic eruptions. The Temple was abandoned and lost in oblivion until it was rediscovered in 1814. It was followed by a difficult time of trying to restore the fallen temple. Now days the Borobudor Temple is part of the UNESCO's world heritage list. It is fun to climb the temple. Its big and impressive and their is lots to see. Go early in the morning when it is cooler and less crowded.
